Tech Tips

In order to keep our Technicians up to date and well informed we have developed a "Tech Tip System".  When working in the field performing Third Party Services there are many different complications, or situations a  Technician may encounter.  Our Operations Manager, Tony Pinto, has developed numerous "Tech Tips" that are faxed out on a monthly basis to our Technicians.  These are informational "reminders" that Tony has created to help out the Technicians when encountering many different circumstances.

Bring the Crate to the Piece, Not Vice/Versa:

Whenever it is possible you should always take your built crate to the piece and then put the piece into the crate. You will encounter several pieces, i.e. glass, marble, etc, that are very fragile and may easily get damaged if you attempt to carry them any distance.  Instead you should take the crates for those type of items to the piece and then lift the piece into the crate.  Otherwise you will open yourself up to a claim if the piece breaks while you are carrying it to the crate, not to mention floor damage as the piece hits the floor.

No Job Detail is Unimportant:

When you are at a transferee’s home every little detail that affects your performing a normal service is important for you to report.  The condition of piece that you are working on, especially the floor conditions, are important to notice. Point out to the transferee and note in your report at all times.  If you are working on origin services anything that changes the conditions of destination services, for example the need for extra help, is also very important to report.  How you packed hardware and where you put it is important to the tech that will be setting up the piece.  If directions or diagrams are available note who has them.

By reporting all of these details you help destination services run more smoothly.  More importantly, you prevent potential problems after the service and liability for damages!  Remember, when you call something in as being in “Good Condition” make sure it is.

Labeling: Swing Sets, Exercise Equipment, Schranks, etc:

It is very important, when you are performing origin services on Swing Sets, Exercise Equipment, Schranks or other similarly detailed items, to label all parts of the equipment.  This makes it easier for the destination tech to reassemble the equipment without difficulty.  All hardware should be packaged and clearly marked, with any assembly instructions, for easy retrieval prior to reassembly.

Your failure to perform this labeling creates severe problems for the techs at destination.
